Testing at Ocala Karate & Fitness is in March
Well we are having an awesome Feb up here at Ocala Karate & Fitness. www.ocalashinbukan.com All of our members are training so hard and its such a good thing to see positive things happening for them. I am seeing members every night now making such huge gains in their training. Whether it be balance, strength, stamina, cardio conditioning, or just basic understanding of concepts, our members are really making some big steps. And I couldn’t be happier.
All of our classes are filling up with smiling faces and it just really makes Jaime and I happy to see how much fun everyone is having at our school. This is what teaching these classes are all about. Seeing the rewards and advances that everyone is starting to make. It doesn’t matter whether you are in Karate, Cardio, Weapons, or Self Defense; the positive things that are happening are happening everywhere.
We really want to thank ALL of our members too for speaking so highly of us through out the community. Everywhere Jaime and I go now, everyone tells us that all they hear are good things about Ocala Karate & Fitness.
Next month our Karate members will get a chance to raise their heads up high and advance to their next rank. March 12thwill be our next testing for advancement. It looks like we are going to have a full testing to, with around 20 members testing. For our members that attend on a regular basis, it takes about 3-4 months to advance between belts. Having said that, its a really big deal when our members are ready. Good luck to everyone that is testing. I know you will do well.
A special congrats to our Self Defense members too as we push into week 9 of the Self Defense class. Everyone has done exceptionally well, and are going to really be amazed with themselves over the next 4 weeks as we begin to really crank that class up. It’s going to be nice when they get to look back on their first week and remember how they struggled just to react to someone assaulting them, to now, the programed response system that has already been wired into them. Halfway through January and Rolling ahead!
Alright. We’re half way through January 2010 here at Ocala Karate & Fitness and we’re full speed ahead. Ocala Karate & Fitness IS Ocala’s Premier Martial Arts studio
Well tonight was Ocala Karate & Fitness’s last Kids Karate Class and Our last Adults Karate and Okinawan Weapons class until Jan 3rd. I would like to start off by saying just how proud of everyone I am right now. The accomplishments and personal achievements that our members have made this year is something to really take pride in.
All the hard work and drills are really starting to pay off now. I am watching our members in class do things now that 3 and 4 months ago were totally unobtainable. This is when you know that we’re doing something right. The combination of our Shorin Ryu Karate classes, accompanied by the Cardio Fitness classes is not only getting our members in shape, but strengthening all the areas that matter most. In the last week I have had two separate members come up to me after class and say that they no longer have any back pain.
I’ve had another tell me that over the last 10 years they have had terrible chronic neck pain and limited range of motion. Now, she says that for the first time in as long as she can remember her neck does not hurt or feels stiff when she turns. This is what Okinawan Karate is all about. It’s about not only strengthening our bodies, but building strong posture and alignment. The motions and postures or stances that our Karate was built around was designed for this very purpose.
To allow us as practitioners to live long and healthy lives. By building strength around our spine and core, it develops or re-develops our bodies in ways that allows us to benefit the most. And these are just the things our members are noticing over the SHORT term. We have not even been open a year yet, so these our members that have only been training for less than 12 months. Imagine what you would feel like if you practice for say 3 years. Or 5 years. Or better yet, an entire LIFETIME.
This is what Karate is really about. Not only learning how to defend yourself against physical attacks, but to defend yourself against life itself. The longer you train and practice, the more you realize you need to practice. It is a very humbling but at the same time enlightening experience. Ocala Karate & Fitness has Cardio, Karate, Self Defense,and Weapons Classes
Hello everyone,
I just wanted to go over some of our many different Programs that are available to everyone here at Ocala Karate & Fitness, along with just a few of the many benefits that are associated with each one.
First off, with the Hollidays just around the corner everyone is going to have to start paying attention to what we are eating. Unless your already actively exercising on a routine basis, this is something EVERYONE needs to pay close scrutiny too.

Holliday Food
We’re soon to be getting bombarded by every diet plan on the market. With the New Year around the corner, your going to begin hearing, and seeing on TV, radio, internet, or bookshop every diet plan on the planet.
Now I know that your going to hear about all the success rates that these plans have, but what you have to ask yourself is this. Do you really want to go on some extreme diet, even though they will all tell you that they are not, and half starve yourself not of only food, but of all the daily nutrients that your body really needs?
Do you really want to have to watch everything to the point that you can’t eat ANY Carbs, or ANY Protein, or ANY fat ! ! I don’t know about you but that sounds like a ton of work, and not very much fun either.
The truth is this. Exercising 3x per week for a min of 20 mins per session will provide better results than any of these diets. Now this does require you to eat sensibly though. But I when I say sensible, I mean to use common sense. Try to cut down on your calorie intake. Try to stay away from fried and fatty foods.
Or better yet, if you try to use a diet and combine it with exercise you will see results even quicker. But the key here is you have to exercise. Exercise not only burns more calorie’s, but it it makes you stronger. It makes your heart healthier and will allow you to live longer. It will help your joints, and range of motion.
You will notice big changes in almost every attribute with your body. As you get stronger, you will feel better about yourself. And this is no trick. This is no fancy diet plan that “Researchers have developed” This is something that we have always know. The human body was designed to work. When it does not, it literally begins to fall apart.

Staying Healthy
So we have to make up our minds now. Do we want to spend our final days confined to a body that seems to be broken and only continues to get worse every year, or do we want to do something about it while we can? And we’re only talking about 20 mins per day. The amount of time it takes you to drive across town in traffic.
Our future as a country and culture depends on us to make this change. Through technology we have been granted things that our grandparents thought would never be available. But the flip side to that is how much easier it has made our life style. Too easy.
Our lifestyle has become so easy that it is now having negative effects on us. So make the choice now ! ! Quit looking at those people that you call or stigmatize as health nuts as being crazy. They have made the choice to live healthier and longer than all the others.

Staying Fit
We all know now what smoking does to us. It Kills ! ! Because of this people have dropped the habit, and it seems less and less people are smoking. Well guess what. Eating a horrible diet with no EXERCISE is killing us too ! ! It’s no different. And do you know what the really crazy thing is? It is way, way more difficult to stop smoking than it is to get into an exercise routine.
If people can quit smoking everyday, then EVERYONE can start exercising. So make the choice now and live to see your grandchildren. Wait, don’t just plan on seeing your grandchildren. Plan on enjoying them ! !

New Karate Youth Class Starting November 10 2009
I just wanted to officially announce the start of a NEW Karate Class here at Ocala Karate & Fitness. This new class has really got us excited and I can’t wait for opening day. This action packed Traditional Okinawan Shorin Ryu Karate class is going to be open to members between the ages of 11 and 14 years old. This class is guaranteed to be action packed and full of high energy explosive drills that will have Ocala Karate & Fitness’s youth program being talked about all over Ocala. So anyone looking for the best traditional karate class geared towards 11 -14 year olds, look no further. This is what you are looking for. Our classes will be teaching our members not only self control, focus, balance, discipline, and getting them fit at the same time. But also how to set attainable goals, and how to reach them. This is what makes Karate so important to our youth today. It teaches them, that through proper focus, and discipline, anything and all things are possible. It is truly up to us as individuals to figure out what it is we want and how to go get it.
As the members train over the next few years they will then be eligible to enter into our teenage/adult class. This class teaches the same fundamentals as the youth class, but focuses on issues and how to deal with problems that begin as we get older. Everything from advanced street self defense, to proper health and fitness. All this is taught and can be achieved through our many programs that we have to offer at Ocala Karate & Fitness. From Karate to weapons, or even our new fighting fit boot camp, we will continue to work towards a better tomorrow. Every year we are adding to our curriculum of classes to better offer Ocala a TRUE Martial Arts Fitness Center. A fitness center that was build around the concepts and building blocks of Okinawan Karate. If we can teach our youth from an early age to respect ourselves and take pride in who each one of is, as an individual, then tomorrow’s group of adults will be a healthier, more fit society that will continue to keep America as a world leader.
