Testing at Ocala Karate & Fitness is in March
Well we are having an awesome Feb up here at Ocala Karate & Fitness. www.ocalashinbukan.com All of our members are training so hard and its such a good thing to see positive things happening for them. I am seeing members every night now making such huge gains in their training. Whether it be balance, strength, stamina, cardio conditioning, or just basic understanding of concepts, our members are really making some big steps. And I couldn’t be happier.
All of our classes are filling up with smiling faces and it just really makes Jaime and I happy to see how much fun everyone is having at our school. This is what teaching these classes are all about. Seeing the rewards and advances that everyone is starting to make. It doesn’t matter whether you are in Karate, Cardio, Weapons, or Self Defense; the positive things that are happening are happening everywhere.
We really want to thank ALL of our members too for speaking so highly of us through out the community. Everywhere Jaime and I go now, everyone tells us that all they hear are good things about Ocala Karate & Fitness.
Next month our Karate members will get a chance to raise their heads up high and advance to their next rank. March 12thwill be our next testing for advancement. It looks like we are going to have a full testing to, with around 20 members testing. For our members that attend on a regular basis, it takes about 3-4 months to advance between belts. Having said that, its a really big deal when our members are ready. Good luck to everyone that is testing. I know you will do well.
A special congrats to our Self Defense members too as we push into week 9 of the Self Defense class. Everyone has done exceptionally well, and are going to really be amazed with themselves over the next 4 weeks as we begin to really crank that class up. It’s going to be nice when they get to look back on their first week and remember how they struggled just to react to someone assaulting them, to now, the programed response system that has already been wired into them. Our classes this year are out of the gate and running. We want to say thanks to every0ne of our members that come out to class 2-3 nights per week and give us exactly what we give them. 100% ! ! Ocala Karate & Fitness Classes and Lessons for Cardio
We just finished up another week here at Ocala Karate & Fitness and want to congratulate our 8 NEW MEMBERS that joined our program this last week. Our goal with this class is to have all of our members seeing positive results for their hard work in the shortest amount of time possible. And at the rate these men and women are going that’s not going to be a problem at all. Our newest members range in age from 15 to 53, and have hit this class wide open. www.ocalashinbukan.com.
Some are doing it to finally get back in shape so they feel better about themselves and to lose some weight, while some are in the off season from soccer and wish to stay fit and in shape, and possibly even have an edge over everyone else when the season starts back up. The drills and exercises in this class are beneficial not only to over all health, but also build: coordination, flexibility, balance, muscle tone and explosiveness, and last but not least, over better CARDIO FITNESS.
Our lessons are Tuesday and Thursday nights at 6:00 and Mon Wed Fri mornings at 9:30. Both instructors,Robby and Jaime Bray, are licensed and Certified Fighting Fit instructors, so you know you will be getting some of the best exercise drills available. Rotating theses drills is a huge factor in any program, and Ocala karate & fitness rotates these drills out with NEW FRESH drills every 3-4 weeks so the workout never gets boring.

Closing out week 3 of SELF DEFENSE
Here we go everybody.
We’re wrapping up week #3 in the Self Defense class here at Ocala Karate & Fitness. www.ocalashinbukan.com. We’re happy to see that 4 more people joined the class this week and we all had a real good workout Tuesday night. Tomorrow nights class is going to have everyone leaving with a smile too. We are going to be working on some really fun drills that are not only really neat to practice, but will begin to develop our members timing and distance.
These are some of the most critical things any Self Defense class must get across to its members. We have to know how to move, which way to move, and what to do AFTER we move. And Ocala Karate and Fitness’s Self Defense Black Belt Program delivers exactly that.

Ocala Self Defense
What a blast we all had tonight in the Self Defense class here at Ocala Karate & Fitness. www.ocalaselfdefense.com. Closing out week #2 in the new Street Self Defense class went really smooth. All of our members are picking up the basic drills very easily, which proves that this New Self Defense Program really does WORK.
Having been designed to accommodate the every day person, this class takes this highly effective, yet easy to learn program and will have just about anyone, any make, any model, up on the feet and able to protect themselves in just a few short weeks. This week we have been covering punching combinations ranging from jab/cross, jab/cross/hook, and cross/hook/cross. Choke defense, standing up from the ground, and a few other really beneficial drills were touched on the surface.
Remember that this is only week #2 so as the class moves on and builds, the material transitions from learning basic striking and counters, to full on assaults. This program was built with progression in mind. Are members will be utilizing their shin guards, and head gear in the next several weeks as push into more advanced, and REAL situation defense.
When you talk about Self Defense we must remember that “nothing” is written in stone and “nothing” is 100%. That’s why we have got to train are members to be able to defend themselves from just about any situation conceivable. The only way to be prepared, is to be BEST prepared. This class is a very fast paced workout too, with lots of striking combinations with our partners using focus mitts and other targets. I tell all our members that one of the most important things ANY Self Defense Class can teach is how to REALLY be able to hit someone. I mean let’s face it. If you trying to learn Self Defense because you really want to be able to defend yourself, you had better be able to hit some one. Otherwise you are really wasting your time.

Self Defense Class Week 2

Self Defense Black Belt Program
We’re rolling into week #2 in Ocala Karate & Fitness’s Self Defense Program and everyone in class is going to notice the pace pick up a bit. Now I know it’s only week 2 in our Self Defense Class, but everyone attending is going to notice the steady progression every week of this class. We are beginning at the ground level with very basic fundamental drills that will take our Self Defense members from not knowing how to throw the first punch or kick in a self defense situation to being able to strike an opponent with the right power and authority needed to end a violent situation.
This week’s class is going to build off of the basic punching combinations learned last week, by adding two new ones into the series. As the class moves on, these combinations too will help build striking speed and power in our members. Also this week we will be adding defensive measures against different choking attacks. Like the striking drills, these drills will also begin basic and then build into more complex and more intense drills that will increase our members strength and confidence over the course of the program.
The other great thing about this class is that it is a complete THREE year program. Now you might ask yourself just what exactly does all that mean and how does that benefit our students? For starters: This is not a limited or set program, so just when you start to understand what is going on, the class won’t end. This will allow our Self defense members to continue becoming more comfortable, more confident, and more capable of defending themselves from just about ANY situation that he/she might find themselves in.
The other thing this means is that our Self defense members get to advance physically as well. This means that by staying in the program they will be getting more exercise and becoming more fit. The drills will continue to increase over time and in intensity to help our Self Defense defense members tone up and lose weight at the same time too. It’s only common sense to realize that ultimately, being able to defend yourself also means you have to be in better shape. One more reason why this program is becoming as popular here in Ocala as it has.

Self Defense BlackBelt Program 2010
Here we are winding he first week of 2010 down and logging it into the books and Ocala Karate & Fitness couldn’t be happier starting the New Year out running full sprint. We are Ocala’s Premier Karate/Martial Arts School and our really excited about all our programs this year.
And our new Street Self Defense Class, SDBBP, couldn’t have been any better. We had a full class and everyone got exactly what they were looking for. This 1 hour high energy class not only teaches all the basic skills needed to be able to defend yourself if ever needed, but also gets you in shape and fit at the same time.
You see, what most people fail to realize is that if you just show up for a 1 week course or something and learn a few basic things to do if anything were to ever happen to you, without training your whole body how to react efficiently, your really not getting anywhere.
Our unique curriculum has been developed with this in mind. We train the body to react quickly, and strongly, to allow our members to benefit most from this.
And remember. . . This is NOT MMA. This is a Self Defense Class. Do not confuse the two with one another.
Talk about a workout too. I have to admit my shoulders and arms are a little tight after all the punching combination’s we went through with our partner drills. These drills are once again easy and very straight forward to do. 
Once again they have been designed for normal everyday 9-5 people, mom’s and dad’s, grampa’s and grand ma’s that are really looking to get into shape and feel safe. Especially in today’s world, you don’t have to flip very far on the LOCAL news to hear about some brutal, violent crime taking place.
From random assaults, to forced entry, today’s world is really getting crazy and we as a people need to be able to defend ourselves and not be prayed upon. That’s what the SDBBP program at OCala Karate & Fitness is ALL ABOUT !
